Daranne Harris

Daranne Harris is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. Having served with the church’s humanitarian agency, Canadian Lutheran World Relief, in full-time and interim ministry with congregations in Alberta, and as Chief Mission Officer for a faith-based provider of long-term care, Daranne is passionate about practical theology that informs people’s day-to-day experiences of God at work in their lives and the world.

Research and Teaching Interests:

Daranne values qualitative research approaches that draw upon people’s stories and how phenomena unfold. Her research focuses on the intersection of theology and the social sciences to explore awe, compassion and psycho-social-spiritual well-being, specifically how compassion plays a transformative role in both individual and communal healing that opens to human flourishing.
