Announcement

St. Andrew’s College is pleased to announce that the Board of Regents recently granted tenure to Dr. Becca Whitla.

“I am thrilled with the news that St. Andrew’s has granted me tenure! Since coming to Saskatoon, I have thrown myself into the prairie context and have come to love the people, the land, and the amazing sky of Treaty Six territory and the homeland of the Métis on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. I am also honoured to be carrying on the name of the first woman ordained in The United Church of Canada as Dr. Lydia E. Gruchy Chair in Pastoral Studies. I am thankful for this affirmation of my teaching; my service to St. Andrew’s community, the church and the wider community; and my scholarship. I look forward to continuing to learn from students and colleagues here in the Prairies and around the world. I am also very excited to continue my scholarly work on decolonizing and liberationist approaches to worship and theology. Thanks to those who wrote on my behalf and the tenure committee. Thanks also to the many people who have supported me along the way – my family, friends, colleagues, students, and mentors. I am deeply grateful. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!”
